This location is perfect because the door presses the switch as it closes.

Insert the switch junction box into the door jamb and fasten it to the wood using the supplied screws.
Switches are mounted on the hinged side of the door jamb.
This is where the door jamb switch bushings will be mounted.

Connect the ground wire to the grounding screw.
Carefully fold the wires into the junction box and put the cover plate on.
This means that the switch will be installed on the door s hinge side.
7 on the painted area opposite the smooth clean flat surface place a 4 piece of masking tape.
Photo 8 9 with the door still closed draw a line along the inner edge of the door on the masking tape.
Usually the switch will be installed above the top hinge if there is enough space for it.
Step 1 plan the location of the switch it is best for the switch to be installed above the door hinge.
Connect the black and white wires individually to the terminals or wire tails coming off of the switch.
At the approximate distance up the door to mount the magnets.
Reinstall the courtesy light switch back into its recess until it is flush with the panel.
It is easier to verify the function of the replacement courtesy light switch before reinstalling it back into the door jamb.

With all other doors closed simply depress the plunger on the switch and verify that the courtesy light goes off.
